Patna: The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has asked all the agencies concerned to either complete the construction of excavated roads by May 30 or face action. Patna mayor Sita Sahu said FIR would be lodged against the agencies if they fail to complete the work within the deadline.
Of the 75 wards in the city, 50 are facing the issues related to excavated roads which have been dug up for various projects, including laying of sewage pipes. An official said most works in progress are related to Namami Gange project which is being executed by the BUIDCO.
“It has been more than a month since the road near my house was dug up. Leave a four-wheeler, even taking out bike or walking on the road has become difficult. If the road is not repaired before the monsoon, there will be waterlogging in the locality, said Saurav Yadav, a resident of Musallahpur Haat.
Areas like Machhua Toli, Bikhna Pahari, Hanuman Nagar, Ashiana-Digha Road and Punaichak too have similar issues. Sandhya Kumari, Resident of Machhua Toli, said, “We hear about people falling in the excavated road every day. Waterlogging will make things worse for us.”
Mayor Sahu said all the agencies have been asked not to dig roads till the monsoon gets over. “We have given them May 30 deadline to the agencies to complete the projects. People think PMC has dug the road. However, the fact is that several agencies are carrying out these projects,” she added.
