Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board on the occasion of the International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies and air quality management in Chennai collaborated with the district administration and organized various programs including bicycle rally, sapling planting, distribution of saplings to the public across Tamil Nadu to create awareness about the importance of each individual’s contribution in protecting the air quality in the urban environment.
Several members of public, industries and students participated in the event. They have also developed a city action plan under the National Clean Air Proramme to further improve the air quality in the city. Under that, they have proposed to find sources, study them and set up five additional CAAQM stations for effective monitoring of air quality in the city. tnn
