Nashik: The Bhusawal division of Central Railway (CR) has completed the work of doubling of tracks in the 8.5 km stretch between the Ankai Killa-Manmad section under the Daund-Manmad doubling project.
The Manmad junction on the Central Railway’s Mumbai-Bhusawal route branches out to Aurangabad (Nanded division of South Central Railway) and to Daund (Solapur division of Central Railway). The tracks go together till Ankai Fort, which is in tBhusawal division, after which they branch out in the respective directions in the respective railway divisions.
“The work has been completed, and the tracks have been commissioned, which will further ensure that not only the number of trains go up, but will also contribute to saving time in the running of trains,” a senior officer from the Bhusawal Division said.
The doubling of the tracks from Manmad station to Ankai-Killa station was carried out in the past one year. The work of connecting the tracks for trains to travel in either directions and then change over was to be carried out.
The Bhusawal division, therefore, carried out a mega block from June 25 to June 28 when as many as 13 trains were cancelled and the routes of a few others were diverted.
With the commissioning of the tracks, the movement of every train will gain the time advantage of one to three minutes.
The work of doubling the tracks has been completed till Kopargan railway station and it will further be carried out till Daund.
