Railways Won’t Allow Charging Of Devices At Night

[ad_1]

As a precautionary measure, Indian Railways has decided to not allow passengers to charge their phones and other electronic devices at night.

According to a statement, the points for charging would be kept off from 11pm till 5am. This step is taken after several incidents of fire were reported.

Southern Railway CPRO B Guganesan told PTI that these are not new instructions, but an amended version of the earlier orders from the Railway Board.

“It is a Railway Board instruction for all railways. We have started implementing from March 16,” he told PTI.

The switch used for charging will be kept off in order to prevent fire too. Several reports were filed stating that the reason for this was over-charging of electronic devices during the long-distance trains, according to officials.

“In view of the recent incidents of fire, we have done the needful. It is a precautionary measure and even earlier the Railway Board had issued such orders. The power from the main switchboard from these points will be switched off from 11pm to 5am,” said Guganesan.
