Rake for Vande Bharat reaches Jaipur from Chennai, trial run to start soon

JAIPUR: The much-awaited rake for the Vande Bharat Express has reached Jaipur on Saturday morning from Chennai and has been kept in the loco-shed specially designated for it. This is the first Vande Bharat rake of the North Western Railway (NWR).

“The rake has reached the city at 8.30 am on Saturday. We would carry out routine maintenance for the next two to three days and would start the trial run on Ajmer-New Delhi route soon after,” a NWR spokesperson told TOI.

Officials stated, after undergoing trials, regular services are expected to start in the first week of April. Although it was initially proposed to run the train between Jaipur and New Delhi, now the Vande Bharat train will ply between Ajmer and New Delhi via Jaipur.

As per the proposes schedule it would run six days a week, except Wednesday. The train would depart from Ajmer at 6:10 am to reach Delhi at 12:15pm, with a stoppage in Jaipur at 7:55am. The return train will start from Delhi at 6:10 pm and would reach Ajmer at 12:15 am (next day) with stop in Jaipur at 10.20pm.

Railway staff have been given technical training about the rake as it has been customised keeping in mind the requirement of Jaipur – Delhi route. “Vande Bharat Express has pictures on the roofs of every alternate coaches. The Integrated Coach Factory in Chennai has installed of high rise pantograph in this rake,” an official explained.
