Rlys races complete redevelopment of Ayodhya station by Jan 15, ET Infra

NEW DELHI: The Indian Railways is racing against time to complete the redevelopment of Ayodhya railway station latest by January 15, barely a week before the installation of the idol of Ram Lalla at the Ram temple.

The architecture of this junction is inspired by the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi temple. The revamped station is expected to manage daily footfall of around 50,000 persons and the facilities have been designed to meet that requirement.
Railway officials said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to inaugurate the revamped station on January 22 when he participates in the “pran pratistha” of the Lord Ram in the temple and it’s inauguration.

The redevelopment of the station in the holy city is being carried out at an investment of Rs 241 crore. The revamped station will have modern passenger amenities including shopping malls, cafeterias, recreational facilities and parking space.

As per the design, the station will be a two-storeyed building besides the ground floor with a total area of 3,645 sqm. The platforms will be improved and there will be two 6-metre wide foot over-bridges. The station will be having a large circulating area.

It will also have an additional front porch over the drop-off zone to protect the passengers from adverse weather conditions.

The structure will be a certified green station building and the station will have provision for separate arrival and departure of the passengers.

There will be a large air concourse over platforms 4/5, with all passenger amenities at one place along with spaces for retail, cafeterias and recreational facilities.

The station will have 12 lifts, 14 escalators, food plazas, shops for puja needs, cloak room, sick room, and infant care rooms as upgraded passenger amenities. There will be waiting halls at both ground and first floor level.
Mezzanine floor is designated for retiring rooms (30 beds), ladies dormitories (30 beds) and gents dormitories (44 beds).
