SBI doorstep banking: Check services offered, how to register, who are eligible and more

Amid the COVID-19 crisis, banks are going the extra mile to provide banking solutions to their customers. In a similar gesture, the State Bank of India has informed on Saturday (May 22) that it has opened its Doorstep Banking (DSB) Services for its customers.  

The Doorstep Banking Services will include the facilities like pick-up services for cheques, drafts, pay orders, new cheque book, requisition slips, IT challan, and standing instructions request. Cash pickup. The bank has also included delivery services of drafts, pay orders, term deposit receipts, term deposit advice, account statements, TDS, Form 16 certificate, and gift card. The other services that the bank has included are cash withdrawal, digital life certificate for pensioners, and KYC documents pickup.

The customers can register for doorstep banking from 22 May onwards. The toll-free no. is 1800 1037 188 or 1800 1213 721. However, the bank has informed that the registration for Doorstep Banking Services will be done at the Home Branch till such time development at Contact Centre is completed.

The amount of cash withdrawal and cash deposit is restricted to Rs 20,000 per transaction per day. Service charges per visit for non-financial transactions is Rs 60+GST and Rs100+GST for financial transactions. Withdrawal will be permitted using cheque or withdrawal form with Passbook.

The delivery would be completed on best effort basis but not later than T+1 working day (holidays excluded).

Who is Eligible?

Senior Citizens of more than 70 years of age and differently-abled or infirm persons (having medically certified chronic illness or disability) including those who are visually impaired can opt for this service.  

 This requires fully KYC compliant of the account holders. A valid mobile number should be registered with the account. Then, single account holders and joint account holders with either or survivor/former or survivor can take advantage of this service. However, this service is not applicable for accounts operated jointly, minor accounts, accounts of non-personal nature, and customers having registered addresses within a radius of 5 KMs from the Home Branch.
