A message is circulating on social media in the name of public lender State Bank of India claiming to have told recipients to update their Permanent Account Number (PAN) on a suspicious link to prevent their account from getting expired.

“Dear Customer, your SBI Account will be expire today, Please update your PAN card number. Thank You. Click here…’, the viral message reads.

Now, the Centre’s information wing Press Information Bureau has fact checked the entire message. “A #Fake message issued in the name of @TheOfficialSBI is asking recipients to update their PAN on a suspicious link to prevent their account from getting expired. #PIBFactCheck. Beware of such frauds. SBI never sends emails/SMS asking for personal/banking details”, the PIB Fact check team tweeted.

On Thursday, a message was circulating on social media claiming to be associated with Union labour ministry which was said to be conducting online recruitment and providing unemployment allowance.

“A website http://srbc.in.net claiming to be associated with @LabourMinistry is conducting online recruitment & providing unemployment allowance #PIBFactCheck. This Claim is #FAKE. This Website and Online Recruitment is not associated with the Government Of India”, the PIB Fact check tweeted.

Similarly, the PIB busted another fake news related to the Indian Oil Corporation on Tuesday. “A #Fake letter issued in the name of IOCL is claiming to provide pre-approval for dealership of Indane Gas Agency & is asking for KYC documents. #PIBFactCheck. @IndianOilcl has not issued this letter. Kindly visit ‘http://iocl.com’ for authentic information”, it tweeted.
