Vande Bharat Express to slash Bengaluru-Hyderabad travel time, ET Infra

In a significant development for rail travelers, the upcoming Vande Bharat Express is set to revolutionize the commute between Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Scheduled for its virtual inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 24, this high-speed train promises to cover the 610-kilometer distance in an impressive eight and a half hours.

With an average speed of 71 kilometers per hour, the Vande Bharat Express is poised to transform the travel experience for passengers along this route. A trial run is scheduled to take place soon to ensure a seamless journey.

According to the proposed timetable, the train will commence its journey from Kacheguda in Hyderabad at 5:30 a.m. and is expected to arrive at Yeshwantpur around 2:00 p.m. For the return journey, the train will depart from Bengaluru at 2:45 p.m. and reach Hyderabad approximately at 11:15 p.m.

Notably, the train is planned to make stops at five key stations along the route, enhancing connectivity and convenience for commuters. These stoppages include Mahabubnagar, Kurnool City, Anantapur, Dhone, and Dharmavaram. However, please note that this service will not be available on Wednesdays.

Officials from the South Western Railway (SWR) have expressed optimism about the Vande Bharat Express’s introduction on this route. They anticipate that it will significantly reduce travel time, ultimately making the journey more comfortable for passengers. Currently, there are approximately 20 train services connecting Bengaluru and Hyderabad, including superfast, Rajdhani, mail express, and others. Most of these trains take a lengthy 12 hours to reach Kacheguda from Bengaluru.

Sources have indicated that the train is likely to consist of 16 cars and will be maintained by the South Central Railway (SCR) at Kacheguda following its return journey from Bengaluru. This development promises to bring a much-needed boost to rail travel efficiency in the region, benefitting countless passengers who rely on this vital transportation corridor.
