VISAKHAPATNAM: The Visakhapatnam Port Trust (VPT) Authority handled the highest volume of cargo in a single day on Thursday by handling 3,76,460 metric tonnes of cargo at Inner Harbour, Outer Harbour and including SPM, through 22 vessels.
The port handled record cargo in a single day twice in the span of one month and also the fourth time in two years. This is the highest tonnage handled in Vizag Port since its inception, duly surpassing the previous best of 3,73,544 MT handled through 24 vessels on April 26, 2022.
Earlier, Visakhapatnam Port handled 3,47,722 MT cargo through 19 Vessels on December 2 of 2019, and 3,70,029 MT cargo through 21 vessels in 2021.
Port chairman K Rama Mohana Rao appreciated the traffic department for this achievement.
