Wearables brand Boat joins ONDC, Retail News, ET Retail

New Delhi: Consumer electronics D2C brand Boat has become the latest retail company to join Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), an initiative by the government to democratise e-commerce.

boAt is aligned to ONDC’s core purpose of improving adoption and democratizing e-commerce in India,” commented Aman Gupta, co-founder, and CMO at Boat.

By onboarding ONDC, the company aims to reach a more varied segment of customers and leverage ONDC’s presence across cities to showcase its products on a wider scale and unlock the next phase of its growth.

“ONDC is evolving and expanding the product categories via continuous onboarding of new sellers, enabling customers to benefit from a wider range of products and services,” said T. Koshy, MD & CEO, ONDC adding that with Boat, the open network platform now offers a stringer portfolio of electronic products.

Boat sells wearables and audio products. The company claims that it has manufactured over 15 million units in India to date.

Recently, Union Minister Piyush Goyal invited all small and big retailers to join ONDC. He said that brands that do not join the network will be left behind.

ONDC which was launched last year in April in 5 cities, today has expanded its presence in over 240 cities across the country. on April 30, 2023, exactly a year after its launch, ONDC clocked 11, 100 orders in one day, its highest to date.
