Work on to reopen and restore roads in rain affected areas of Oman

Al Rustaq: The basic services sector of the National Committee for Emergency Management continues with its efforts for full restoration of services in the rain-hit areas in the various governorates.

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology and the governorates’ municipalities have reactivated the emergency plan for the roads sector and directed the companies operating in the field of roads to provide the equipment and labour necessary for opening and maintenance of roads at the various affected areas.

This is in addition to formation of filed work teams in the various wilayats for identifying the conditions of roads in each Wilayat.

The heavy rains and the overflow of wadis a number of roads led to damage to several roads in the governorates of Musandam, South and North Al Batinah, Al Dhahirah, Al Buraimi, Al Dakhiliyah and North Al Sharqiyah.

The damages include accumulation of sand and waste on the roads, removal of asphalt layer and road protections.  

Work  has been carried out for reopening roads for traffic, road maintenance and making temporary road diversions and some affected roads to ensure smooth traffic.
