Global IT consulting major Accenture has appointed former Infosys executive Binny Mathews as its chief procurement officer and head of the company’s Procurement Plus (P+) capability, the company said.

“Mathews will be responsible for leading the strategic direction for Accenture’s global procurement spend. This includes continuing the transformation of the company’s supply chain into a sustainable, diverse value chain, committed to responsible and profitable buying and 360° supplier partnerships,” Nasdaq-listed Accenture said in a statement.

Previously, Mathews worked at the Tata Group, FreeMarkets (now SAP Ariba) and Marico in the procurement divisions.

Recently, there have been a slew of movements within firms in the IT sector with Infosys and Wipro losing a large number of employees to rival companies. In 2023 alone, Infosys has lost around ten senior executives to its peer firms.

This has also resulted in at least two lawsuits by Wipro against its former employees who joined competitor Cognizant. Infosys has written a strong communication to Cognizant alleging the global firm of “unethical poaching tactics”.

“Binny will play a critical role in how we power innovation, growth and business continuity for the organization, ensuring that our global strategy is executed based on local demand, and that we lead with data-driven ways to deliver value,” said Margaret Smith, senior managing director and executive director of corporate services and sustainability at Accenture.
