She will take over from Dominik Wiener-Silva, who will be appointed VP Component Services in Amsterdam. With more than 20 years of operational, commercial, consultancy and management experience at KLM Engineering & Maintenance, Inflight Services, in the Operations Control Centre, seconded to KLM Catering Services, as well as experience outside of KLM, Heidi brings a lot of knowledge and experience. Ton Dortmans, Executive Vice President of KLM E&M, declared: “I would like to thank Heidi for her contribution to the Training department of KLM E&M and wish her all the best and success in her new position at EPCOR.”

New Zealand Airports Association appoints new chief executive: The New Zealand Airports Association (NZ Airports) announced the appointment of Billie Moore as their new Chief Executive. Billie brings extensive government and stakeholder management experience having been a former diplomat and working in a number of Ministries. Billie served as New Zealand’s Consul-General to New South Wales and Queensland for four years, before returning to Wellington in 2019 to lead government relations for Tourism New Zealand, including joining TNZ’s executive team during the response to COVID-19. Most recently Billie has been in the role of Chief Advisor at the Ministry for the Environment, working with the Chief Executive and executive team across the Ministry’s engagement and key relationships. Billie takes over from retiring chief executive Kevin Ward, whose long service and achievements were celebrated at the association’s annual Hui in September. Billie takes up the role of Chief Executive based in Wellington in December.

Avalon names new head of comms: Avolon, the international aircraft leasing company, announced that Doug Keatinge has joined as Head of Communications. Doug will be responsible for leading Avolon’s corporate and financial communications. Doug has over 20 years’ experience in public relations and journalism, most recently as a Partner at Murray Group, a leading PR consultancy. Doug has also worked as a journalist for Irish broadcaster RTÉ and Bloomberg, and in investor relations and strategy roles for Digicel and L.E.K Consulting. Andy Cronin, Avolon CEO, commented: “Avolon has always had an exciting story to tell and I’m very pleased that Doug is joining us to support the next stage of our journey. Doug’s track record of developing and implementing strategic communications programmes will contribute to our success as the refreshed leadership team at Avolon delivers future growth.”

New CEO at Diehl Aviation: Dr. Jörg Schuler has taken over as CEO at Diehl Aviation. Since the spring of 2022, the Diehl Aviation corporate division has been managed ad interim by Dr. Klaus Richter, President of the Diehl Executive Board. Jörg Schuler is an experienced leader and extremely well-connected in the aviation industry. After studying aerospace engineering, Schuler earned a doctorate in aeroelasticity. Diehl Aviation is a division of Diehl Stiftung & Co. KG and combines all aviation activities of Diehl Group under one roof. In the aviation industry, Diehl Aviation – including Diehl Aerospace (a joint venture with Thales) is a leading system supplier of aircraft system and cabin solutions. Diehl Aviation currently has more than 4,000 employees. Its clients include leading aircraft manufacturers Airbus (both airplanes and helicopters), Boeing, Bombardier, Embraer, manufacturers of eVTOL aircraft as well as airlines and operators of commercial and business aircraft worldwide.

Wayne Easlea named MD for KLM UK Engineering: Wayne Easlea has been appointed Managing Director of KLM UK Engineering. Based in Norwich, KLM UK Engineering is an AFI KLM E&M subsidiary specialising in maintenance solutions for regional and narrow-body aircraft fleets. Wayne began his career with KLM UK Engineering in 1990 as an aircraft maintenance apprentice and subsequently progressed into technical roles in Base and Line Maintenance. Wayne joined the KLM UK Engineering management team in 2003 and held several operational management positions prior to being appointed as Operations Director and member of KLM UK Engineering board in 2015. In 2021 Wayne was appointed as Finance Director. On learning of his appointment, Wayne said: “I feel proud and privileged to be appointed Managing Director of KLM UK Engineering Limited. When I first joined the company as an apprentice in 1990 my hopes and aspirations were focussed on gaining aircraft maintenance licences and becoming a competent engineer. With the support of some amazing colleagues, friends and managers I was given opportunities to develop skills and knowledge in areas that I had not previously considered. As MD of KLM UK Engineering, I will ensure the culture of creating opportunities continues. I look forward to leading the team at KLM UK Engineering to further develop and grow our MRO business with a continued focus on safely and efficiently delivering excellent services to our customers.”

Lucian Hsing assumes responsibility for Hahn Air’s airline business in APAC: Hahn Air announced that Lucian Hsing has assumed the role of Regional Vice President APAC. In his new position, Lucian will support the partner airlines using the products HR-169, H1-Air and X1-Air throughout all stages of the partnership. This includes guidance throughout the implementation and set-up phase, technical support and strategic consulting, as well as optimisation of sales results in indirect distribution channels in close cooperation with the partner. In addition, Lucian will advise on interline opportunities within Hahn Air’s network of more than 350 partner airlines and support the acquisition of new partner airlines.  Based in Bangkok, Thailand, he will work closely with Mr. Angus Chang, Account Manager for Hahn Air’s Airline Business Group for APAC.

APOC Aviation announces head of component sales: APOC has announced the appointment of experienced aviation professional, Tracey Downes, as Head of Component Sales. “I’m excited to join APOC at this pivotal time in the organisation’s development. The USM Market is on an upward trajectory and is set to grow enormously in the next year. This presents a great opportunity for APOC as we continue to support existing and new customers with the right parts to keep their fleets in the air,” comments Downes. Having previously held senior positions at Aerospace Asset Trading and Nova Systems, Downes has a wealth of experience in the USM market, as well as detailed knowledge of airframe and engine disassembly. In this ‘hands on’ role, her key responsibilities will include growing the commercial team and developing new sales processes to streamline and optimise efficiency, as well as regular liaison and support for key accounts.

Chapman Freeborn names business development executive: Chapman Freeborn, the global air charter specialist and part of Avia Solutions Group, has appointed Anthony Ciobanu as Business Development Executive at their new office located in Perth, Western Australia. Anthony brings 15 years of aviation industry experience to Chapman Freeborn, beginning his career at Dnata Airport Services as Ramp Supervisor and Charters Coordinator. Soon after, he transferred to the business aviation sector and most recently he has worked as FBO Manager for several companies, including providing ground handling services for business jets and military aircraft. As a Business Development Executive, Anthony will be focusing on providing solutions to customers within the Oceania region, offering a holistic view of all business verticals at Chapman Freeborn and by building and fostering long-term relationships. Anthony said: “I have known of Chapman Freeborn for many years and always knew it was a professional, ethical and customer-oriented organisation. I am looking forward to contributing to the growth of the organisation within the Oceania region, as well as working with the team across the globe.

Kellstrom Aerospace names CFO: Kellstrom Aerospace Group, a leader in aviation life-cycle cost management solutions, announced that Orlando Fernandez has joined the Company’s leadership team as Chief Financial Officer. Orlando has over 25 years of executive experience working with global companies in diverse industries, including aviation distribution, consumer goods manufacturing, and perishable goods distribution.  Prior to joining Kellstrom, Orlando served as the Chief Financial Officer of the Aviation Segment of VSE Corporation. Before joining VSE, Orlando held a variety of financial management positions at Boeing Distribution Services. “Orlando has had great success building strong finance teams that serve as trusted partners to business units and departments within an organization,” said Kellstrom CEO Oscar Torres. “We are pleased to welcome Orlando to the Kellstrom team and look forward to his contribution and leadership.”

Two new appointments to TAG’s top team: TAG Aviation announced Piers Turner as its new European Flight Operations Director, while TAG Sales Director, Karl Mills, has now assumed the role of Chief Commercial Officer. Piers joins TAG from Air CM Global with a wealth of aviation expertise to his name, having 21 years’ experience flying all manner of business jets the world over, along with 15 years’ involvement with flight operations. Based between Malta and Farnborough, he is proud to be joining TAG Aviation, saying: “TAG is well known for setting the highest standards in safety, customer service and training, which align with my views and personal ambition.” Karl Mills has enjoyed an impressive career at TAG, having joined as a Charter Sales Executive in 2014. By 2020 he was Director of Sales and responsible for TAG’s UK Charter business as well as the company’s Aircraft Acquisition and Aircraft Management activities. In taking on the position of Chief Commercial Officer, he remarked: “With regard to my own career progression, I have definitely benefited from TAG’s ‘family’ philosophy, which is one of nurture, support and personal development within the company. Morgan Lewis adds lawyers to aviation finance practice: Morgan Lewis is bolstering its global aviation practice with the addition of an eight-lawyer EMEA and Asia-Pacific team, including three partners—Sidanth Rajagopal, James Bradley, and Manuela Krach—across the firm’s London, Dubai, and Singapore offices. Joining from K&L Gates, the team represents a variety of key aviation industry players, including but not limited to financial institutions, lessors, restructuring specialists and airlines. The team focuses on complex cross border financing, leasing, and restructuring issues in the aviation industry. “This highly ranked, multifaceted, multijurisdictional team brings a depth of experience to our aviation capabilities that already spans the full spectrum of issues—from finance and restructuring, to litigation and enforcement, project development, and insurance and reinsurance recovery, to name a few,” said Firm Chair Jami McKeon. “The aviation industry is one that depends on sophisticated skill sets to navigate disruptions and identify opportunities in today’s market. Metrojet names new executives: Metrojet has appointed Justin Yeung as the Director, Aircraft Management and Charter (DAMC) and Captain Stewart Borg as the new Director, Flight Operations (DFO). Justin Yeung is responsible for Client Relations, Continuing Airworthiness and Management Organisation (CAMO), Business Development and Joint Venture projects within the Aircraft Management and Charter line of business. Captain Stewart Borg as the company’s DFO, oversees all aspects of the AMC’s Flight Operations Department, including flight crew management, Integrated Operations Centre, flight training and flight operation support. Justin Yeung joined Metrojet in 2018 and was most recently the company’s Head of Commercial. His significant achievements since joining the company include the successful negotiations with the Clark International Airport Corporation for a long-term land lease for the new Metrojet Engineering (Clark) facility in the Philippines, and the acquisition of Chinese Air Operating Certificate (AOC) operator, Funian Aviation, through Metrojet’s joint venture with the Haite Group. Justin started his career with Rolls-Royce plc in the UK, where he held a number of progressive commercial and supply chain roles.

Joerg Speri new CEO of Lufthansa Technik Puerto Rico: Joerg Speri will take over as Chief Executive Officer of Lufthansa Technik Puerto Rico (LTPR) from Pat Foley. Speri held various management positions in the Lufthansa Group, mainly outside Germany. His latest position was Senior Director of Network Sales & Customer Service at Aircraft Maintenance Services. He holds two Masters degrees in business and aviation management from Mid Sweden University (Sweden) and Massey University (New Zealand). Pat Foley is one of the founding fathers of LTPR and was in charge as CEO of LTPR for more than five years. He steered the company through demanding times. Mr. Foley will take on the newly created position as Head of Business Development The Americas for Aircraft Maintenance Services.

Truenoord leasingTrueNoord names new executives: As the company expands its global operator portfolio and prepares to manage a programme of significant growth, TrueNoord, the specialist regional aircraft lessor, is building its Dublin-based team. New to the finance unit, Cormac Hennessy brings outstanding cross-border tax knowledge to the position of Tax Manager. He will assume responsibility for all of TrueNoord’s tax affairs, assisting with tax aspects of the leasing, trading and financing of aircraft. He will also coordinate the Company’s tax compliance obligations on a global scale. As TrueNoord expands its presence in Europe, Ahmed Ali will transition from his sales support role in the Dublin Office to the position of Sales Manager – Europe. Ali joined the company as an intern in September 2020 and has grown with the business.

Avolon announces leadership changes: Avolon, the international aircraft leasing company, announces appointments to the roles of Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Chief Operating Officer (COO), and Chief Risk Officer (CRO). Ross O’Connor, Avolon’s Head of Capital Markets, has been appointed as CFO; Felipe Campos, Avolon’s Chief Technical Officer, has been appointed as COO; Jim Morrison, Avolon’s Head of Portfolio Management, has been appointed as CRO. All three will also join Avolon’s Executive Committee (ExCo) with immediate effect. Following a successful transition period, outgoing CEO, Dómhnal Slattery, has also stepped down from his role effective 1 October, with CEO Designate, Andy Cronin, assuming the role of CEO. Avolon’s ExCo now comprises Andy Cronin (CEO), Paul Geaney (President & Chief Commercial Officer), Ciara Ruane (Chief People Officer), Ross O’Connor (CFO), Felipe Campos (COO), and Jim Morrison (CRO). Ross O’Connor joined Avolon in 2011 and held various roles throughout the organisation, including positions in the aircraft trading and the capital markets teams, as well as Head of Investor Relations. Since 2021, Ross has served as the Head of Capital Markets for Avolon, having responsibility for leading Avolon’s capital markets and fundraising strategy and initiatives. This includes managing Avolon’s investor relations and rating agency management activities, as well as Avolon’s global bank relationships. Ross holds a Bachelor (Hons) in Management Science and Information Systems Studies from Trinity College Dublin and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ireland. Felipe Campos joined Avolon in April 2016 and has been Avolon’s Chief Technical Officer since 2021. In this role, Felipe led all technical aspects of the business including lease transactions, new aircraft deliveries and oversight of delivered aircraft while on lease. Prior to joining Avolon, Felipe held a variety of roles across the aviation industry including GE Aviation and LATAM and TAM airlines, where he was responsible for marketing, aircraft financing, leasing, fleet planning, engines, and supply chain contracts. Felipe holds a Master of Science in Naval Engineering and Project Management from Escola Politécnica at the University of São Paulo. He also holds an MBA from IBMEC. Jim joined Avolon in 2017 as a member of the OEM Team and was most recently Avolon’s Head of Portfolio Management. Jim has over fifteen years of aviation industry experience with leasing, manufacturing, research, and technology organizations. Prior to joining Avolon, Jim held airline marketing, aircraft evaluation, market analysis, and product strategy roles with CIT Aerospace and Bombardier Commercial Aircraft. Jim is an ISTAT Certified Appraiser and a licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario. He holds a Master of Science in Technology and Policy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering Physics from Queen’s University, Kingston.

ATR appoints Rahul Domergue as Corporate Secretary and General Counsel: Rahul Domergue has been appointed Corporate Secretary and General Counsel of ATR, the world number one regional aircraft manufacturer. Rahul joins ATR’s Executive Committee, reporting directly to the new Chief Executive Officer, Nathalie Tarnaud Laude, and heading the Legal, Ethics & Compliance, Environment & Public Affairs, and Facility Management functions. Rahul succeeds Frédéric Torrea who starts a new role as Head of Export Control at Airbus Helicopters. Previously Head of Contracts, Litigation and Intellectual Property at Airbus Helicopters since 2012, Rahul started his career in 1999 as a business lawyer for Veolia Environnement in Paris. Rahul joined the Thales Aerospace division in 2002, then NHIndustries in 2007 – a joint venture between Airbus Helicopters, Leonardo Helicopters and Stork Fokker – where he set up and headed the Legal department supporting the NH90 helicopter programme. Since January 2022, he also acted as Crisis Management Team Director within the helicopter division of Airbus.

Investec Aviation Finance hires Jonathan Lee as originator: Investec Aviation Finance announced the appointment of Jonathan Lee as originator, based in Singapore. In his new role, Jonathan will be responsible for deal origination, including the buying and selling of aircraft; deal structuring, pricing, and financial modelling; negotiating acquisition and sale transactions; and sourcing external debt financing and refinancing to optimise equity returns. Jonathan joins from ST Engineering, the Singaporean technology and engineering group, where he spent four years in a similar role. Before joining the aviation leasing space, he acquired seven years’ experience in M&A. Investec currently manages over $1 billion of aviation assets, including third party debt and equity funds, consisting of over 100 aircraft.

Liesbeth Oudkerk joins Qatar Airways Cargo: Liesbeth Oudkerk will be responsible for the cargo carrier’s sales and freighter network planning, focusing on digital transformation in order to improve customer support as well internal processes, mainly digitalisation which is a key element in Qatar Airways Cargo’s new approach to business. “I am thrilled about my new position and firmly believe in Qatar Airways’ vision of the industry. I look forward to bringing my expertise to such a diverse and committed team. I am honoured and proud to accompany it all the way to the top.” An asset to the Next Generation project, Liesbeth brings with her over 25 years of experience in the airline sector, having worked for KLM, where she occupied leading positions in various departments, including Digital Transformation and Cargo Network & Freighter Management.

Virginie Delcroix joins the Executive Committee of GEODIS: Virginie Delcroix has joined GEODIS as Executive Vice President, Sustainable Development, reporting to Marie-Christine Lombard, Chief Executive Officer. This appointment confirms Madame Lombard’s determination to place CSR performance at the heart of the Group’s strategy. Since 2017, Virginie Delcroix had been Vice President Sustainable Development, with responsibility for CSR and product safety & regulatory affairs at the Arkema group, where she was a member of the management committee. Having graduated from the Ecole des Mines de Nancy, Virginie’s career has been spent in industry. In particular, she was technical director and innovation director at Novacel (1999-2011), before taking charge of R&D in South Europe for Bostik, a company in the Arkema group (2011-2017).

Afcom expands leadership team: Afcom Holdings Private Limited, an international cargo airline headquartered in Chennai, announced four key senior level appointments. Kochat Narendran has been appointed as the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). He comes with vast experience in the cargo (predominantly air cargo) sector having served in senior decision-making roles at Hindustan Cargo, DTDC Nikkos, Continental Carriers and DHL Worldwide. Kochat has been recognized & awarded internationally twice for Business Results and HR Strategies during tenure as Managing Director for Thomas Cook (India) Cargo Division (Hindustan Cargo Ltd) and once at Yusen logistics India pvt ltd. Comes in with extremely valuable exposure in Direct Sales, and as Profit Center Head of organizations like DHL, TNT India and Yusen Logistics India and Continental carriers. Anish David has been brought in as the Chief Sales Officer. Comes with vast experience from the Courier Industry to the Logistic Industry with 30 years of service in sales. He was earlier the Country Head for S-Net Cargo and the National Head at Unitex Logistics. Earlier to that he was the “Branch Manager” for “Aramex International Courier” A Jordan-based company having a strong base in the Middle East / Saudi/ Africa for their International Courier services. S. N. Ashok has joined as General Manager – Cargo Operations. Prior to this, he served as Cargo Operations Manager at Emirates, before which he served in key operations roles at Cargolux Airlines and Korean Air. He has had exposure to commercials in his earlier organisations. P. K. Raghunathan comes in as the Chief Operating Officer (COO). He comes with a multi-disciplinary experience with organizations like Flyington Freighters Pvt Ltd, Royal Sundaram Alliance Insurance, Max new york life Insurance and HSBC .Raghunathan is also a professional Trainer & Coach for Senior Executives of Multi-National organisations.

SSP UK & Ireland announces appointments: SSP UK & Ireland announced the appointment of Fi Butcher as Managing Director for Dublin. Fi has worked extensively across both marketing and commercial fuctions for the past eight years, latterly as Commercial and Marketing Director for the UK and Ireland, and she has achieved great success in mobilising new concepts and openings at Dublin airport over the past 12 months. In this role, Fi will continue to oversee our marketing functions, including food development, creative, brand development, and concept creation and mobilisation. Further to this, Graham Woods will be joining the business as UK&I Property Director after 13 years as Global Property Director at Pret. In that role, he helped grow the business internationally, playing a key role in the acquisition of EAT, and he was responsible for acquisition, design, construction, estates management, maintenance, facilities, and health and safety. Graham will join the business on 26th September 2022. Andy Webb, Business Development Director, will be promoted to the new role of Commercial Director and will take responsibility for the Commercial and Supply Chain and Procurement teams. Following the turbulence of the last two years and increasing external challenges, these areas have become increasingly important and therefore now require a dedicated focus. Bringing all our teams managing our commercial offers under one lead will create important synergy to help us deliver the best service to our customers, clients and partners. Andy will continue to lead the Rail Gourmet business as Managing Director. As a result of Andy’s move, Cathy Granby will be promoted to the UK&I Executive Team as Business Development Director. Cathy will bring her extensive experience in operations, having been Operations Director for Air, and business development as well as her long-standing knowledge of SSP’s business to this role.

Ralf Gust appointed MD at Hamburg Aviation: Hamburg Aviation, the cluster network agency for the Hamburg Metropolitan Region, announced the appointment of a new Managing Director. With a career spanning nearly 20 years in the aviation industry that includes management of several aviation companies and associations, the experienced leader is comfortable in the role as “pilot in command.” The 61-year-old most recently served as Chairman of the Board of HCAT+ e.V., the training and educational network for the aviation industry in Hamburg. After graduating from HAW Hamburg in aeronautical engineering, Ralf Gust gained further qualifications in business management (VWA). From there he went on to senior management positions at various companies, including Yacht|Teccon GmbH & Co. KG, ORANGE Engineering Holding GmbH & Co. KG and Segula Industriehansa. He is also a founding member and treasurer of HECAS e.V., a leading association of engineering companies. On taking up his new position as Managing Director at Hamburg Aviation, Mr Gust will leave his honorary positions at HCAT+ and HECAS.

New role for Amit Ray at LOT Polish Airlines: Amit Ray, Director India, DACH Markets and Italy at LOT Polish Airlines, will be additionally appointed as Head of Global Corporate and Strategic Sales at the Polish Star Alliance member with immediate effect. The Global Corporate and Strategic Sales unit at LOT Polish Airlines is responsible for the creation, negotiation and administration of all global corporate contracts as well as for all key strategic decisions in the corporate travel segment. The Global Account Managers, under Ray’s leadership, will manage relationships with corporate partners and their respective agencies of record, with industry consultants focused on corporate travel and foster the collaboration with trade organizations. The globally based team members will also focus on program efficiency, contribution to sustainability goals, improving the business travel experience and keeping contracted partners engaged and informed. Amit Ray has been working for LOT Polish Airlines since October 2014 and had a leading role in expanding LOT Polish Airlines’ presence in the German-speaking market and Italy as well as spearheading the airline’s successful market entry in India since 2019.

APOC names CFO: APOC has promoted Kevin Wall to take on the role of Chief Commercial Officer. Previously Senior Vice President of Business Development across the Americas, his new remit will focus on shaping future growth, consolidating market share and nurturing a team of success-driven people. “Driving the unique company culture at APOC and building upon the fresh approach that has seen the business expand exponentially in just seven years is both a challenge and an exciting opportunity,” he says. Wall will be running APOC’s global commercial operations from the new Miami office which opened earlier this year.  This expansion has been met with great enthusiasm from APOC’s airline and lessor customers throughout the Americas, as well as the organisation’s MRO business partners and audited workshops throughout the region. “We continue to believe as a truly global player that further expansion into other markets is a logical development,” explains Wall.  “Over the next 12 months we will be exploring the next direction for APOC’s global footprint.”

Signature Aviation names new CFO: Signature Aviation, the world’s largest private aviation terminal operator, has appointed Mike Eshoo as its new Chief Financial Officer, effective August 23. Eshoo will be responsible for directing and overseeing the financial activities for Signature Aviation and all related business units. Eshoo joins Signature from General Electric, where he most recently served as SVP & CFO for GE Gas Power, a $13B segment of the business operating in more than 150 countries. During his more than 20-year tenure with GE, Eshoo has held several significant financial leadership roles across multiple business segments, including GE Power and GE Aviation.

Pegasus Airlines names head of marketing and e-commerce: Ahmet Bağdat, who’s been serving as Group Head of Digital Channel Management and Growth Marketing at Pegasus Airlines since 2017, has been appointed Director of Marketing and E-commerce. Bağdat will be responsible for Pegasus Airlines’ brand management, e-commerce and digital channel management, data analytics, ancillary product development and management, loyalty management, guest experience functions, and leading the development and execution of the marketing strategy. Ahmet Bağdat graduated from Boğaziçi University, Industrial Engineering and received his MBA from UCLA (University of California – Los Angeles) Anderson School of Management in 2011. He started his career as an MT at Demirbank/HSBC Bank in 2000.

FL Technics shakes up management: FL Technics, a global Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) solutions provider, announced changes in their management team. Edita Jakucionyte-Lukse will take the position of Head of Human Resources of the FL Technics group. With over 20 years of personnel management experience, Edita Jakucionyte-Lukse joins a strong international team, where she will be responsible for people management strategy, its implementation and company development support decisions. Before joining FL Technics, E. J. Lukse held the position of Head of People and Culture at UAB Palink, Head of Human Resources and Communication at AB Grigeo Group, and Head of Human Resources at ABB T&D in the United Arab Emirates. Edita obtained a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in public administration at the Kaunas University of Technology and a master’s degree in business administration at ISM University and BI Norwegian Business School.
